Aegean Airlines celebrates inaugural flight
21 May 2008

Aegean Airlines celebrated its inaugural flight between Stansted and Athens yesterday last week by welcoming passengers with champagne, gifts and a party atmosphere. The introduction of the twice-daily, year round service between Stansted and Athens provides passengers with a real alternative for their travel to Greece. Aegean Airlines, Greece’s fastest growing full-service airline, is providing its customers with a premium 2 cabin service and in-flight catering.

Prices on Aegean’s route to Athens start from just £67 one way, including taxes. Departure times from London are at 10:20 and 20:00, and from Athens at 07:30 and 17:10.

Aegean Airlines flies to 12 international destinations (London, Larnaca, Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Rome, Milan, Sofia, Bucharest, Cairo and Tirana) and 17 Greek destinations (Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania, Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Mytilene, Chios, Alexandroupolis, Mykonos, Santorini, Kavala, Limnos, Corfu, Ioannina and Kefalonia).

Aegean’s current fleet renewal of 27 new Airbus A320/A321s is the highest recorded investment in the history of the Greek airline industry. The company has already received the first ten Airbus A320/A321s on schedule and expects a further 3 A320 aircraft to be delivered during 2008. The fleet renewal programme was initiated in 2007 and will be completed by 2010. After the completion of this deal Aegean will officially won and operate the youngest fleet in Southeast Europe.
