Phase 1 sell-out at glass apartment tower in Wandsworth

7th November 2008 Print
Phase 1 sell-out at glass apartment tower in Wandsworth Barratt has sold out the first phase of 15 homes at Parkside, a spectacular new apartment development overlooking a 55-acre park in south-west London.
Parkside is centred around a 23-storey curved glass tower in Wandsworth, London SW18. Designed for Barratt by architects Squire & Partners, Parkside is taking shape on a prime site alongside St George's Park, on the edge of Wandsworth town centre and adjacent to the Southside shopping mall.

When complete, the development will comprise two main elements - a nine-storey lower block and a sleek, curved glass-and-steel tower rising to around 70 metres. Key features are floor-to-ceiling glazing and spacious balconies to most apartments.

Parkside offers just 62 apartments for open market sale, located between the seventh and top floors. All have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and luxury specifications.

Barratt London managing director Alastair Baird said: "Parkside is performing well in a difficult market, with the first 15 homes already snapped up.

"While it is greatly helped by a stunning location, Parkside is more than anything a terrific example of the sort of new housing provision the Government's regeneration agency, English Partnerships, is driving through and wants to see more of - that is, really high-quality and exciting development that sustainably regenerates inner-city brownfield land with outstanding design and value."

He added: "Wandsworth is a well-established and very green borough that is undergoing a real renaissance, and Parkside is going to be a tremendous asset to the town and the borough."

The development - which is being built on redundant land off Neville Gill Close - is being undertaken in partnership with English Partnerships as part of the London Wide Initiative, which aims to increase housing opportunities in the capital.

All homes at Parkside have fully-fitted designer kitchens, complete with integrated appliances, and family and en suite bathrooms, with most apartments having balconies from which to enjoy the stunning views.

Lifts will serve all floors through stylish common areas and there will be some private parking for residents, as well as a daytime concierge service.

Wandsworth's transport links are excellent, with six underground and eight mainline rail stations. Parkside is around half a mile from Wandsworth Town mainline station (trains to London Waterloo in approximately fifteen minutes) and from East Putney and Southfields tube stations on the District Line.

St George's Park, which Parkside will overlook, is regarded as one of the finest public green spaces in the southern half of Greater London.

A sales office and stunning show apartment are open at Parkside, with the current phase of apartments on sale at £309,995.
