Andy becomes Barratt’s top man
5 October 2007

Barratt Newcastle Site Manager Andy Dawson has won Barratt Homes national Site Manager of the Year award beating off competition from over 400 colleagues. Andy, 33, a joiner by trade, started working for the Newcastle division nine years ago as an assistant site manager and in that time he has won numerous divisional awards, two National House Building Council (NHBC) Quality Awards and most recently an NHBC Seal of Excellence Award.

“When I heard I had won the national award I was over the moon,” said Andy who supervises work at Barratt’s Saxonfields development in Kirk Merrington, County Durham. “It’s not just down to me though, all the operatives on my site produce an excellent quality of work and I manage what they produce so it has definitely been a team effort.”

Andy started his trade as a joiner when he took up an apprenticeship at 16 years old with a small local builder in Bishop Auckland and since then he has been building on firm foundations. His prize for winning the national award is a luxury holiday plus spending money.

Barratt Newcastle Managing Director Bernard Rooney said: “I’m not surprised Andy has won this national award as the response from his customers is exceptional. This is a just reward for his commitment and dedication as a site manager.”

Andy and his team have now built 60% of Saxonfields where construction includes 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes at prices starting from £201,500.
