The Local Area
Set in the heart of the West Devon Countryside, nestling within the valley of the River Tamar, between Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor, The Old Coach House is within easy reach of the beauty of both North and South coastlines. The fascinating Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are only 40 minutes drive away.
The area is one of many interests: beautiful walking and cycling routes, river gorges and lakes, medieval history, private fishing, golf courses, excellent restaurants and country pubs, historic towns and villages, and with easy access to the cities of Exeter and Plymouth.
Our accommodation
The Old Coach House has four letting rooms each with its own front door allowing guests to come and go as they please: a standard double room, a king suite, a twin/super-king suite, and our honeymoon/family suite. Each room has en-suite facilities and many amenities for the comfort of our guests: these include tea & coffee making facility, hospitality tray, refrigerator, tele-video, CD playing alarm clock, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, electric blanket, full length mirror, wall heaters, cool air fan, and direct dial telephone. The three suites include a sofa-bed in order to offer flexibility to families.
The Old Coach House is situated in a beautiful, secluded, one and a half acre garden. Our guest rooms offer a panoramic view over lawns, colourful flower beds, many varieties of trees and shrubs, pathways, inviting seating areas, and the Thatched Cottage which houses the breakfast room.
Wandering through the gardens offers an ambience of tranquility, relaxation and privacy: an invitation to relax and to unwind amidst the sight and sound of birds and butterflies, a view of the surrounding countryside, the tinkling of the pond fountain where dragonflies hover, the sighting of colourful neighbouring pheasants or the occasional swoop of the heron. It is an artist's paradise.
At night the garden shines orange with the setting sun over the adjacent field. Gradually the garden glows with discreet lighting, and the only lights to be seen in the night sky are the twinkling of the stars and the glow of the moon.
