General:
Stanhope Street is located to the west side of Abergavenny, but less than half a mile from the town centre, which has all normal local facilities, shopping, library, theatre, market, town hall, etc. There is a castle in the town, which contains a museum. There is a primary school in an adjacent street, and the local comprehensive school is about ten minutes walk. Abergavenny is a pretty Victorian market town, which thrived as a home for factory managers and owners in the Industrial Revolution. It was first settled in Roman times, and later built up as a walled town around a Norman castle. It lies adjacent to the river Usk on the borders of the Brecon Beacons national park, and is surrounded by mountains. There is a bus station and rail station in the town.
