People looking for a home in the Lancashire town of Ormskirk will soon have more to choose from.

Redrow is transforming the site of a former timber yard in Wigan Road to make way for homes from its sought-after New Heritage Collection.

The award-winning housebuilder is preparing to launch the development, known as Woodman’s Place.

Inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts era, the 71 homes will look traditional from the outside; while inside they will be bright, modern and full of family-friendly features.

Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), commented: “People tend to think they want to live in an older property that’s full of character, but often don’t realise just how much time and money they will spend running and renovating it. Our New Heritage Collection is the perfect solution for those who want the charm of a ‘period’ property but the style and convenience of a brand new home. It’s a combination that’s proving popular across the country and we’re confident we will be able to build on that success in Ormskirk with the launch of Woodman’s Place.”

Arts and Crafts features will be seen to varying degrees on the homes at Woodman’s Place including dropped eaves, projecting plinths, timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows.

But behind the traditional exteriors the homes will be bright, modern and full of family friendly features. Open plan layouts put well equipped kitchens at the heart of the home. Practical yet stylish those kitchens boast integrated top brand name appliances including microwave, oven and fridge freezer plus tall cabinets and extra wide drawers that offer plenty of storage. Upstairs, family bathrooms and en-suites will enjoy quality fixtures and fittings, with a tile range exclusive to Redrow.

“Our New Heritage Collection homes are much sought-after and I would encourage anyone considering moving home in Ormskirk or relocating to the area to register their interest now so that they can have the pick of the properties,” Lesley added.

Home buyers can enjoy a taste of things to come at Woodman’s Place by logging on to the award-winning broadband television channel Redrow.TV, where they’ll discover virtual show home tours

“We have found that more and more house hunters are researching the local housing market online before viewing a property. With that in mind our online television channel is a great marketing tool as it enables customers to experience all that a Redrow home has to offer from the comfort of their home, office or wherever they access the internet,” Lesley explained.

“It means they don’t have to wait for the show homes at Woodman’s Place to open; instead they can take a virtual tour of Redrow properties from all over the country.”
