Thai Airways offers faster check-in facility

6th August 2012 Print

Thai Airways International (THAI) have introduced a Mobile Boarding Pass service which allows customers to check in at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Phuket International Airport, and domestic airports within Thailand, ensuring passengers will no longer have to endure long queues at the check-in counter.

The Mobile Boarding Pass or Mobile 2D barcode Boarding Pass is available via Multimedia Message Service (MMS), and acts as an electronic boarding pass which THAI will send to customers on their mobile phones. Passengers will be able to complete their check-in by using the booking code and even change their seats.

As well passengers checking themselves in, the new service will allow the family to reserve a ticket and check-in for the passenger by revealing the passengers mobile number, and the system sending a 2D barcode boarding pass to the passenger automatically.

THAI Vice President, Saroj Yuttatri, comments on the new service: "THAI aims to reduce the check-in counter processes, increase passenger convenience, and also protect the environment. The passengers can avail of the new service via mobile phones or tablet browsers, mobile application, mobile game and iPad application."

In cases where there is a problem with a passenger's mobile phone such as that it runs out of battery, it is lost or is unable to receive the mobile boarding pass, the passenger can contact the check-in agent at the counter, present an ID card, and the original boarding pass will be reissued.
