easyJet has celebrated the inaugural flight of its latest route from London Southend Airport, to popular ski and city destination Geneva.

Passengers were invited to join easyJet crew and London Southend Airport Managing Director Alastair Welch for photos in a giant, festive, winter wonderland snow globe which had been put up in the terminal and toasted the occasion with a glass of bubbly before departure.

Geneva, renowned for its artful watchmakers and breathtaking lakeside views beside Europe’s highest peak Mont Blanc, is one of Europe’s most popular destinations for ski and snowboarders looking to maximise their time on the slopes, with several resorts such as La Clusaz, Chamonix and Morzine Avoriaz, no more than 90 minutes away.

For those wishing to book flights, accommodation and transfers in one go, easyJet Holidays has a wide range of great ski resort packages such as a seven night stay for two at the Residence Les Balcons d’Anaite in Chamonix for £332 per person. To book, visit easyJet.com/holidays.

Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager commented: "We’re absolutely thrilled to be celebrating the inaugural flight of this new service to Geneva. It’s easyJet’s 14th destination on sale from London Southend Airport and I’m sure it will be a big hit.

"We’re continually expanding our range of destinations from London Southend Airport with easy and affordable flights to the places that our customers want to fly to, when they want to fly to them."

The thrice weekly easyJet flights from London Southend to Geneva (departing on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday) are available now in time for peak ski season at easyjet.com from as little as £31.99 one way including taxes.

Alastair Welch, Managing Director at London Southend Airport commented: "We are pleased to now offer another great easyJet route from London Southend Airport – the addition of Geneva to our growing portfolio of routes is testament to how well our redeveloped airport has been received by the travelling public.

"We look forward to welcoming even more passengers, skiers and city breakers alike to enjoy the unique airport experience on offer here at London Southend."

easyJet recently announced its expansion plans for new Summer 2013 routes which went on sale on 6 December from London Southend to Krakow in Poland and to the German capital Berlin. With further growth planned, easyJet’s passenger numbers are due to reach up to half a million at London Southend in time for the airport’s first birthday.
