A partnership between developer Linden Homes and North Yorkshire housing provider Broadacres has reached a new milestone.

The award-winning house builder has helped the housing association mark its 20th anniversary by handing over one of its new homes at the recently launched 1877 development in Ouseacres.

The property – one of 14 discounted and affordable rented homes at the site – will be the housing association’s first in York, and continues its flourishing partnership with Linden Homes.

The official handover took place at the 1877 development, where a number of the 57 new two, three and four-bedroom homes have already been sold from plan.

Broadacres Housing Association provides a comprehensive range of services to approximately 5,500 homes in North Yorkshire, and 1877 will be its third Linden Homes development, after links with sites at Riccall and South Milford.

Steve Towers, managing director of Broadacres Housing Association, said: “Working in partnership with Linden Homes we are delighted to take handover of our first affordable home in York. All 14 homes will be let to local people in housing need, ensuring they can remain in the heart of a city where it can otherwise be very expensive to live.”

Linden Homes managing director Ian Hessay said: “The handing over of our 1877 property to the Broadacres Housing Association not only marks an important milestone for both parties, but recognises our solid and growing links with one of the leading local housing providers, allowing more people to enjoy the benefits of a brand new home.”
