Milltek release new BMW F30 3 Series 320/328i exhaust system
Having concluded many thousands of miles of road and dyno testing, extraction expert Milltek has announced details of its latest BMW performance exhaust system to the market. This latest design is suitable for all M Sport F30 320 and 328 models that use the N20 engine from 2012 onwards.
As is so often the case, Milltek knew that this car would be a key line in many markets, so took the sensible decision at the time of the model’s launch to invest in a test vehicle with which to truly develop the very best exhaust solution. By enjoying this 24/7 access to the car, Milltek’s engineers were able to try a number of configurations and see how they performed in both road and track environments, as well as regularly visiting the dyno cell to see how and where power and torque curves were being enhanced.
All Milltek systems use only the highest grade, non-magnetic European stainless steel, which in this case, has been fashioned into a highly effective 76mm / 3” cat-back design. This diameter was found to offer the optimum balance between high-speed gas-flow and a desirable amount of back-pressure for exceptional throttle response.
Both resonated and non-resonated systems are available, for those looking to dial noise levels up or down. A full EC-homologated system is also in the pipeline, which will allow drivers in more stringent territories the chance to upgrade their car, without falling foul of the legislators!
Whilst creating the perfect non-intrusive soundtrack and maximum power gains are very much the order of the day, the design team still found plenty of time to tick the ‘aesthetics’ box as well. To this end a set of smart dual 90mm GT’s in either polished or black finish truly get the job done. With a profile based on the trim exits design of the 335i model, the Milltek system exudes a stunning ‘factory with attitude’ design language that looks at home on any M-Sport F30.
Prices have yet to be announced but will in line with all of the existing Milltek BMW pricing.
