Cost effective new homes for Barnard Castle

23rd September 2013 Print

Taylor Wimpey North East has started work on its Darlington Road development in Barnard Castle and is delighted to announce that the new scheme will be known as Castle Vale.

The much anticipated project of 100 high quality, energy efficient two to four bed family homes will provide a generous allocation of 30 affordable plots for the local community.

The development will also bring significant benefits to the area including a series of public open spaces each with its own theme, landscaping, plus the creation of allotment gardens. Taylor Wimpey has launched a brand new web landing page for site enquiries.

John Driver, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey North East said: “The Castle Vale development is one of Taylor Wimpey’s flagship projects in the region. As well as playing a significant role in the regeneration of Barnard Castle, the development is leading the way in terms of sustainability and the new homes we deliver will be extremely cheap to run.

“In order to help young locals and first-time buyers, 30 of the 100 new homes will be affordable. Furthermore, 15 of these homes will be sold 30 per cent below open market value. We are delighted to have begun work on the project and look forward to seeing it progress.”

Taylor Wimpey is investing £15.5m over the next four years to deliver Castle Vale. Some of the new homes will be built in stone from nearby Stainton Quarry while bricks will be sourced from Toddhills near Bishop Auckland to minimise travel for deliveries.

Joan Peart, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North East said: “The Castle Vale development will offer buyers an excellent lifestyle, location and a range of spacious family homes.

“Given the high levels of interest in the scheme, I would urge prospective buyers and local residents to register on the website to ensure they are kept up to date with all site news.”
