According to a study by Grandparents Plus and Age UK, grandparents in the UK care for 1.6million or 14% of under 14’s, saving families £7million per year. At Cliveden Village in Taplow, Buckinghamshire by Countryside Properties, a luxury development of two and three bedroom apartments and houses exclusively designed for the over 55’s, there’s plenty of activities available for residents and their active grandchildren to enjoy together!

Situated in the beautiful grounds of the National Trust’s Cliveden Estate, Cliveden Village enjoys a great location for kids of all ages to explore. A private gate leads into the historic estate, which residents can use during public opening times. Here, grandchildren will find 376 acres of woodland and landscaped gardens to explore, as well as a 500m maze designed and built to re-create the original maze built for Lord Astor, the former owner of Cliveden in 1894. There is also a woodland play trail and a storybook play den for under 10’s. The National Trust has a list of ‘50 Things to do before you are 11¾’ at Cliveden which includes hunting for bugs, going bird watching and playing conkers.

During the forthcoming October half-term school holidays, there is also a special Halloween themed Wild Wednesday where the kids can try to make it to the centre of the maze and back without bumping into any creepy creatures or ghoulish ghosts.

Perfect for grandparents whose grandchildren love swimming, tennis or even squash, buyers at Cliveden Village can become members of the exclusive Cliveden Club, a social and country club, based at the nearby five star Cliveden House Hotel. Here, the Cliveden Pavilion Spa features indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and squash courts, a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, a gymnasium and exercise studio.

Jamie Woodrow, Marketing Manager, Countryside Properties comments: “At Cliveden Village, many of the residents look after their grandchildren on a regular basis and they love it here. With so many activities to choose from at the Cliveden Estate, the whole family can come together to enjoy one of the great woodland walks, tackle the play trail, hunt for bugs and even learn and get involved in the conservation work undertaken by the National Trust.

One of the properties ideal for grandparents who regularly entertain their grandchildren, is the three bedroom house known as The Juniper. Featuring a spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen room, with floor to ceiling glass doors opening onto the rear garden, this is an ideal place for all the family to play traditional games like Cluedo, Scrabble and Monopoly, as well as watch a family movie and make fairy cakes. The ground floor is complete with a cloakroom, utility room and an integral garage.

The impressive master bedroom suite on the first floor is spacious in design and includes a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The two additional double bedrooms also each include an en-suite shower room, making them ideal for overnight guests, including grandchildren.

Stylishly designed to a high specification, the properties features a fully fitted kitchen with contrasting white and wood effect gloss units complete with quartz stone white work surfaces and upstands. The integrated appliances include a combination oven with telescopic extractor hood, stainless steel combination microwave, ceramic hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is also a washer/dryer in a separate cupboard.

Owners at Cliveden Village benefit from a concierge service, which is available five days a week, to oversee day-to-day life within the development and deals with everything from communal landscape maintenance through to refuse collection and recycling. The concierge can accept home deliveries and provides a constant presence, keeping an eye on things during the week. CCTV also links the concierge office to the secure underground apartment car park.

Once complete, Cliveden Village will comprise 131 apartments and houses designed exclusively for the over 55’s. Nearby amenities for residents include an array of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.
