New interactive resource guides students and tutors through university application process

The new University Application Guide from Middlesex University provides a four-step journey to enrolling at university for teachers and their students.

A new online resource to guide students and tutors through the ups and downs of applying to university has been launched by Middlesex University.

With more than 300 universities across the UK and more than 43,000 university degree courses available, students can find it difficult to choose the right one for them and their future careers.

Teachers and support staff are also increasingly being relied upon to provide the advice that will give students an edge over their fellow applicants as competition for places increases.

The University Application Guide provides a four-step journey to enrolling, with sections dedicated to selecting a course and university, submitting an application, waiting for an offer, and funding university or college.

The guide also provides a university perspective on areas such as personal statements and reference writing, as well as a detailed guide on the UCAS application process and other handy links.

Integrated social sharing buttons also make it easy to share the Tutor’s Guide on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Google+.

Elita Eliades-Ahmed, Education Liaison and Outreach Manager at Middlesex University, said thorough preparation is key to a smooth application process and securing a place on your number one choice of course.

She explained: "Being underprepared during a university application can be potentially disastrous and without the correct guidance, students could lose out on the institution of their dreams - or end up having to wait another year to have another go.

"Naturally, as a university we want young people to make the most of their skills wherever they go, while also supporting their tutors with a guide that will educate, inform and dispel any myths and falsehoods that may stand between possible undergraduates and the future they want to create for themselves!"
