Stay at Oman’s newest hotel: Alila Jabal Akhdar
Oman’s newest five star hotel – Alila Jabal Akhdar – has opened and will be featured by UK operator Corinthian Travel on its 8-day Classic Oman trip.
Jabal Akhdar, meaning ‘The Green Mountain’ in Arabic, is within the Al Hajar mountain range, one of Oman’s most spectacular regions, and is perched 2,000 metres above sea level.
Overlooking a dramatic gorge, it is surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Al Hajar Mountains, and provides an ideal base for exploring the region’s magnificent landscape of rugged, untouched beauty, whilst staying in the height of sumptuous five-star comfort that the region is renowned for.
The hotel will be optional accommodation for two nights on Corinthian Travel’s 8-day Classic Oman Tour, other highlights of which include a stay in Muscat at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort, spending two nights under canvas in the Wahiba Sands (a genuine Thesiger-style desert experience), attending the lively weekly Camel Market and Bedouin market at the village of Sinaw, plus the weekly Cattle market at the cultural capital, Nizwa.
There will also be a chance to discover hidden villages on a guided walk through the Jebel Akhdar Mountains, to peer down Oman’s Grand Canyon of Wadi Nakhr (over 1,000 m deep) on Oman’s highest peak Jebel Shams (3,009 m), a dramatic off road drive through the mountains, a walk through the mud brick village and oasis of Al Hamra, a visit to a living museum in the 400 year old Bait Al Safah House (where traditional domestic skills are demonstrated) and an opportunity to go dolphin spotting in the Gulf of Oman or diving in the Damaniyat Islands (near Muscat).
