Aspiring homeowners who are keen to make savings by taking their first step on to the property ladder are urged to visit Taylor Wimpey’s Willow Place development in Glastonbury, Somerset.

Prospective purchasers might be surprised to discover just how affordable buying a home at this popular development could be, offering a far more attractive option than renting.

The average monthly rent for a typical two-bedroom property in Glastonbury is £629, yet with two-bedroom maisonettes at Willow Place priced from just £145,000, and the Help to Buy equity loan scheme available, buyers could potentially pay less each month on mortgage payments.

Help to Buy enables eligible first-time buyers and those with a property to sell to secure a Government loan for 20% of their new home’s full price – so they only require a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a 5% deposit.

Charlie Joseph, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Instead of lining their landlord’s pockets, renters who long to take their first step on to the property ladder may find they can make substantial savings on their monthly outgoings by buying a new home at Willow Place.

“And thanks to the Help to Buy scheme, realising their dream of becoming a homeowner could be easier and more affordable than purchasers might think, so I would urge anyone interested to come and talk to us as soon as possible!”

The two-bedroom ‘Kirby’ and ‘Truro’ maisonettes are priced from just £145,000 at Willow Place, and each features an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room, an en-suite master bedroom, a further bedroom and a main bathroom. Outside, each property benefits from allocated parking.

Alternatively, there’s a choice of two-bedroom coach houses from £158,000, three-bedroom homes from just £195,000 and four-bedroom detached houses available at the development, priced from £260,000.

All new homes at Willow Place are completed to a high standard specification, including energy efficient central heating, double glazing, and a fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Help to Buy is available on new-build properties up to the value of £600,000 and there’s no salary cap for purchasers taking advantage of the scheme.

Located within a designated conservation area, Willow Place enjoys an enviable location on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Glastonbury and boasts its own pond and wetland area right on the doorstep.

The town centre features an appealing mixture of quirky and independent shops and high street retailers, plus a wide range of cafes, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes.

Parents will appreciate that there are a number of schools in the area, such as St Benedict’s Church of England Junior School in Glastonbury which was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in its most recent inspection.

Commuters will find that the development is a short drive from junction 23 of the M5 for links to Exeter and Bristol.

To find out more about making savings by buying a new home at Willow Place, home-hunters can visit the Sales and Information Centre, located off Wells Road, Glastonbury, Somerset, BA6 9AW, and open daily from 11am to 5pm. Alternatively, visit taylorwimpey.co.uk.
