Would-be Widnes homebuyers are being encouraged to look into using Help to Buy as it’s revealed that more than 2,500 people in the North West made the move using the scheme over the past year.

Figures just released by the Government show that the new homeowners were able to buy thanks to the Help to Buy equity loan scheme which helps those who don’t have a substantial deposit.

At the heart of the North West is Redrow’s Barrow’s Green venture in Widnes where prices start at £149,995 for a two-bedroom ‘Evesham’ property and go up to £275,995 for a four-bedroom ‘Cambridge’ housetype.

The Cambridge home boasts an open-plan kitchen and dining area, en-suite to the master bedroom, a traditional design and tons of added space for storage throughout the property – including a downstairs cloaks and utility room. Using the scheme, the deposit for this home would be just £13,800.

Elaine Mounsey, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “Hundreds of people across the North West have been able to purchase a brand new home when perhaps they couldn’t have before, thanks to Help to Buy.

“Now is a great time to join the ‘Help to Buy family’ at Barrow’s Green. Right at the heart of the region, close to Liverpool and Manchester, it’s a fabulous location to set up home and Widnes is an enviable spot for families and young professionals.

“There are also a number of three bedroom homes coming soon so it’s an ideal time to visit the development, chat to our staff and find out how much you can afford.”

Help to Buy includes an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price. That then reduces the initial outlay and means that buyers only need a 5% deposit. The remaining 75% is then covered by a mortgage.

Part of the Cheshire borough of Halton, Widnes has become an increasingly fashionable place for homebuyers in recent years.

Work has just started on the Mersey Gateway Project, which will provide residents with a second Mersey crossing by autumn 2017 between Runcorn and Widnes , meanwhile they can already enjoy the recently opened £40m Tesco Extra and the New Widnes Shopping Park.
