A neglected and overgrown former industrial site in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, is undergoing a dramatic makeover thanks to leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

The disused Lloyds Ltd metal works, off Brettell Lane, had fallen into disrepair after it was vacated by its old occupiers – but now piles of rubble, clumps of weeds and broken hardstanding are being replaced by beautiful brand new homes.

Taylor Wimpey’s Lockside Walk development launched in May 2014 and this impressive collection of two, three and four-bedroom properties is now really taking shape.

The attractive new homes and pretty landscaped areas currently being created at the development are breathing new life into the site, making the most of its prime location bordering the towpaths of the Dudley Canal and an area of woodland designated as a Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation.

Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, says: “We’re proud to be building high-quality homes at all our developments throughout the region, but it’s particularly satisfying to be able to transform an area which is in dire need of regeneration into something which is a genuine asset to the local community.

“The former Lloyds factory site had been vacant and disused for some time and it really wasn’t doing justice to the area – but now construction is well under way at Lockside Walk, its appearance is changing dramatically for the better.

“Anyone interested in finding out more about how we’re breathing new life into once neglected industrial land should pay us a visit today – and take a look for themselves.”

There’s currently a selection of family-size homes available to purchase at Lockside Walk at pre-showhome prices, including three-bedroom houses from just £158,995, four-bedroom properties from £246,950 and many new designs coming soon.

All new homes are completed to a high standard specification, including central heating, double glazing and fitted kitchens with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Taylor Wimpey also offers a range of incentives to make purchasing easier and more affordable, such as the Government’s Help to Buy scheme and the Part Exchange and easymover initiatives for those with a property to sell.

A small town located to the south-west of Dudley, Brierley Hill is undergoing something of a renaissance with regeneration projects aiming to link the town centre with the Waterfront Business Park and the Merry Hill shopping centre, which is home to almost 250 shops including Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Next plus a range of cafés and restaurants.

There’s also a great selection of leisure facilities in the town, with an Odeon cinema showing the latest blockbusters and The Quest leisure complex featuring a high rope aerial adventure course, a Nerf combat arena and a soft play area.

Parents will appreciate that there is an excellent choice of schools close to home, including Hawbush and Withymoor Primary Schools, which were both rated ‘good’ in their latest Ofsted inspections.

For commuters, Lockside Walk is within easy reach of the A461 for journeys to Dudley, the A458 to Birmingham and the A449 to Wolverhampton, with frequent bus services to key destinations in the local area. Stourbridge Junction railway station is just over two miles from home and offers direct services to Birmingham Snow Hill.

The Lockside Walk Sales Centre is located off Brettell Lane, Brierley Hill, DY5 3LS, and is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm. Alternatively, visit taylorwimpey.co.uk.
