Research from Lloyds Bank suggests that moving out of London can save homeowners many thousands of pounds. Figures from the report show that by commuting for one hour into the capital, buyers can save on average £380,000 on the cost of a home, when compared with equivalents in the capital. At Bellway’s Marconi Evolution development in Chelmsford, Essex a new home is superb value for money compared to equivalent properties in London, with prices starting from £189,995 for an attractive city centre home.

Speaking about the prime location of Marconi Evolution, Richard Burrows, managing director of Bellway Homes Essex commented: "Marconi Evolution is an excellent city centre development, just moments from everything a resident would need in the city, including the train station. The homes at Marconi Evolution are appealing to so many different purchasers, from first time buyers looking to move into their first home to families with young children who attend the excellent local schools.”

Marconi Evolution is an exceptional collection of 418 homes, a mix of one, two and three bedroom contemporary apartments and three and four bedroom houses. The regeneration of the site includes Marconi’s former headquarters, to be refurbished for office space and the retention of the water tower and power house, with the latter due to be transformed into a fitness suite and concierge for residents.

First time buyers will love the Gardini apartments, which offers a variety of contemporary, spacious layouts. The two-bedroom apartments include an open-plan kitchen/dining room inclusive of custom designed fitted kitchen units with soft closing doors, integrated AEG appliances and a stainless steel splashback. All of the apartments (apart from the 2 live/work homes) include a balcony or terrace.

A spacious master bedroom is home to an ensuite and fitted wardrobes, while the second bedroom and main bathroom, which features contemporary white sanitary ware and heated towel rails adds to the sense of space in the apartment.

Families can enjoy life at Marconi Evolution too, with a number of three and four bedroom houses available at the development. The ground floor includes a kitchen/dining area and separate living room with French doors to the rear garden. The master bedroom benefits from ensuite shower room, while the other bedrooms are served by a large family bathroom.

The development is also within the catchment areas and walking distance of two of Chelmsford’s most successful and celebrated grammar schools - Chelmsford County High School for Girls and the King Edward VI Grammar School.

Ideal for commuters, Marconi Evolution is just a short walk from Chelmsford mainline train station and is only one stop from Shenfield for Crossrail connections. Average journey times into the capital are around 35 minutes, with up to six services an hour running to London Liverpool Street. By road, the A12 provides direct access into London and links to the M25 at Junction 28, while the A414 joins the M11. Both Southend and Stansted Airports are approximately half an hour away by car.

Prices at Marconi Evolution start from £189,995 for an apartment, and from £349,995 for a three bedroom house. The sales and marketing suite is open daily from 10am until 5pm, with late night opening on Tuesday and Thursdays until 7pm.
