The Isuzu D-Max has collected another award for the trophy cabinet, having been voted ‘Pick-Up Truck of the Year’ at the Fleet Van Awards 2014. The award was announced at the Fleet Van Awards ceremony held last week at The International Centre in Telford.

Stephen Briers, Fleet News editor, commented:  “The D-Max’s five-year/125,000-mile warranty and two-year service, plus competitive running costs swayed the decision for the judges in a competitive category.

“They were impressed by the 3.5-tonne towing limit while strong sales over the past year is further evidence of how much this pick-up appeals to fleets. The D-Max has the ruggedness required for a multitude of fleet roles but also appeals to drivers with its easy driving style and comfortable seats.”

The Fleet Van Awards are presented annually to motor manufacturers, supplier and fleet groups and individuals who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector.  The Awards jury is made up of the Fleet News editorial team and experts from across the industry.

Upon collection of the trophy, Isuzu’s UK’s General Manager, William Brown, commented: “This award confirms how D-Max makes a compelling case for fleet buyers, combining world-class ability and refinement with low ownership costs. In addition we bolstered our fleet business with the appointment of a national manager earlier this year, and the ongoing enhancements within our network means we’re better placed than ever before to meet the diverse needs of the UK’s commercial vehicle customers.”

In April 2014, Isuzu appointed Colin Wilson to the role of National Fleet Manager, who is responsible for implementing the company’s fleet business plan.

The Isuzu D-Max is one of the most cost-effective pick-ups on the market with ultra-low insurance groups (8A to 10A), class-leading residual values and fuel economy (38.7 mpg combined), industry-leading fleet packages (available from £185 per month), all backed-up by the company’s pioneering five-year / 125,000-mile warranty.

Sales for 2014 are up 33% on last year with the Brand expecting an all-time sales record for one month in September, as the D-Max’s reputation continues to spread.

The D-Max is available in three body styles – single, extended and double cab – with prices starting from £14,749 (CVOTR) for the entry-level single cab 4x2 rising to £25,995 (CVOTR) for the special edition Isuzu D-Max Blade Auto. The Isuzu D-Max is fitted with a super-efficient 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, producing 163 PS and 400 Nm of torque and able to tow a class-leading 3.5-tonnes (braked), which can be mated to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
