Local residents invited to have their say on Taylor Wimpey homes plans in Alresford

13th October 2014 Print

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is inviting people in Alresford, Essex, to have their say on a proposed new residential development in the village.

The developer is currently drawing up plans for up to 145 dwellings along with a large area of public open space on land to the south of Cockaynes Lane.

Initial details of Taylor Wimpey’s emerging proposals will be unveiled during a public exhibition being held at Alresford Village Hall in Ford Lane on Thursday 23rd October between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

The public consultation event will give local residents, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the Taylor Wimpey project team.

Comments received from those who attend the event will be used to help the leading housebuilder shape the scheme before a planning application is finalised for submission to Tendring District Council in due course.

David Edwards, Senior Strategic Planning Manager for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a considerate, responsible developer we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area – and this is why we are inviting the local community to find out more about our emerging proposals for land off Cockaynes Lane.

“We are confident that this scheme will provide an attractive and sustainable development of high-quality homes to meet a range of requirements – including affordable properties for local people in housing need – as well as a large area of public open space for use by new and existing residents of the village.

“Anyone who comes along to the public exhibition on Thursday 23rd October will be able to speak to members of our project team to find out more about our emerging proposals and provide their feedback on their aspirations and priorities for the development.”

The proposed development site is greenfield land which is currently in agricultural use and is located to the south of Cockaynes Lane, bordered to the north-west by residential and commercial properties and to the east by existing homes in Station Road.

The southern boundary of the site is defined by the railway line while former gravel extraction pits border the land to the west.

Under the proposals, Taylor Wimpey would provide a mix of housing types to suit a range of purchasers with a proportion of the new properties to be made available as affordable homes and a large area of the development site retained as public open space.

Access to the development for vehicles would be from Cockaynes Lane, and additional pedestrian/cycle access would be provided to Station Road from the south-eastern corner of the site.

Taylor Wimpey’s public exhibition is taking place at Alresford Village Hall, Ford Lane, Alresford, CO7 8AY, on Thursday 23rd October between 3.30pm and 7.30pm and all are welcome.

Those who are unable to attend will be able to access the information displayed at the event online at taylorwimpey.co.uk/cockaynes-lane from Thursday 23rd October onwards.
