Mama Bear acquires second Plymouth nursery

A family run nursery group has acquired its second Plymouth nursery creating sustainable childcare places and more employment opportunities for the local area.

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery group will take over the former Fort View Day Nursery in Crownhill from Monday 20 July following the retirement of the previous owners.

The move marks the 22nd nursery in the South West for husband and wife team Tony and Bev Driffield, including several in Bristol, two in Somerset and six in Devon.

The nursery which is currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted will offer an increased choice of sessions to both new and existing families as per the Mama Bear model.

Mama Bear’s owner Bev Driffield said: “We are delighted to have another nursery in Plymouth and we look forward to offering even more quality childcare to local families.

“Our structure is very flexible with the aim of fitting around busy working parents’ lives so we’re looking forward to introducing this to families in Crownhill.

“This is our smallest nursery but set in one of our largest gardens. Children benefit from a cosy home from home environment and have the opportunity to explore and benefit from an extensive outdoor play area.

“Set in an oasis of peaceful countryside within the city, the nursery is well placed to serve families living or working nearby.”

Mama Bear’s nurseries are divided into spacious age-specific play rooms for children aged three months to five years. The onsite kitchens provide healthy, balanced meals consisting of breakfast, a two-course hot lunch and afternoon tea. Fresh fruit and drinking water is available in rooms throughout the day.

The nursery can be found to the right of the historic Napoleonic fort at the top of Crownhill Fort Road.

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery is a family-run business founded in 2002. The Day Nurseries are aimed at providing children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
