Support for new house building in the UK has almost doubled in the past four years, new figures from the British Social Attitude survey has revealed. More than half of those questioned (56%), support new homes being built in their area, some 27 points higher than in 2010. Brook Valley Gardens, located in Chipping Barnet, North London, is an area that has witnessed first-hand the demand for new homes in an area that provides excellent value.

Inspired by the original garden suburbs of the early 20th Century, this new development offers a range of two, three and four bedroom properties by Countryside, which will provide residents with a modern interpretation of a traditional garden suburb, bordered by leafy residential areas, playing fields, open space and golf courses.

Richard Cherry, CEO Partnerships at Countryside said: “The survey reveals there is a strong demand for new homes and it is encouraging to see that people are not against but supportive of new build in their home towns. More new housing is desperately needed across England, according to the National Housing Federation² 245,000 new homes are currently needed, each year, to keep up with demand with 49,000 of those in London alone.

“We are finding that Londoners are increasingly looking outside central London to locations such as Barnet as they are able to get more for their money and they are prepared to commute. Brook Valley Gardens will provide over 600 new homes once complete with gardens for each house. Residents and the community alike will also benefit from shared communal gardens, children’s play area and public open spaces providing a diversity of landscapes, habitats and wildlife. It is a landmark development in the making and a huge boost in the regeneration of the area.”

Principally comprising houses, the unique development will grow organically to be built in five phases over eight years. Brook Valley Gardens offers new facilities including a community centre, nursery and shared communal gardens complementing a contemporary lifestyle.

Designed with the future in mind, Brook Valley Gardens will be a sustainable, environmentally friendly development with Eco features such as rainwater harvesting and community recycling incorporated together with measures to promote local biodiversity and water saving.
