Research by YouGov has found that 43% households in the UK have unfinished DIY projects. Half of those were started over three months ago, suggesting that as a nation, Brits aren't the most dedicated when it comes to DIY. The worst offenders were Londoners, with 52% of those surveyed having started home improvement jobs that are then never finished. Ideal for those who don’t have the time or the expertise, Harvard Gardens, L&Q's new development in Elephant and Castle, SE17, offers a range of brand new properties ready to move into - with no DIY needed.

Harvard Gardens is a contemporary collection of properties comprising one, two and three bedroom apartments and four bedroom duplexes designed to appeal to a range of buyer types, especially those who prefer to not do it themselves. According to Lloyds Bank, DIY spending soared by 13 per cent in 2015 to £5.8 billion – equivalent to £210 per UK household. With a new home at Harvard Gardens, all the work is done before the resident even moves in, removing the need to pick up any tools.

Cathy Lloyd, Sales and Marketing Director at L&Q commented: “The research portrays the UK as a 'procrasti-nation', unwilling or unable to complete home improvement tasks. At Harvard Gardens, the new homes are perfect for those who are looking for a low-maintenance home that needs no DIY, with contemporary finishes and modern fixtures throughout. Furthermore, all of the homes come with a two-year guarantee from L&Q, and an NHBC warranty for 10 years, giving buyers peace of mind that their home is built to last.”

All of the properties at Harvard Gardens enjoy a high quality specification. Living areas are spacious and open plan, designed to maximise natural light, with full-height glazing which provides access to a private balcony or terrace.

Kitchens are fully-fitted with contemporary gloss units and stone worktops, with a range of integrated AEG appliances including a dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Bathrooms are completed with Roca Hali sanitaryware and full height tiling, with chrome finishes.

For those looking for some downtime close to home, Harvard Gardens benefits from plenty of local amenities nearby. The new Castle Leisure Centre, which reopened in this spring, is just a short walk from the development, featuring state-of-the-art facilities including a fully equipped gym, indoor cycle studio, sports courts and a six-lane swimming pool.

Residents looking for some greenery will be pleased to find Burgess Park’s 56 acres just a short walk from home, with beautiful scenery around the lake, park café and a plethora of activities from fishing to cricket, and tennis to BMX riding.

Perfect for commuters, this area of South London is extremely well connected. Rail services from Elephant and Castle station include Bakerloo and Northern underground lines, which offer journeys to Waterloo and Bank, and City Thameslink trains to Blackfrairs, Farringdon and St Pancras International. The area is also served by 33 bus routes within a five-minute walk from the station, eight of which are night buses.

Prices for a one bedroom apartment at Harvard Gardens start from £412,500, two bedroom apartments start from £540,000 and the four bedroom duplexes start from £885,000. A selection of one and two bedroom apartments at Harvard Gardens are now available with Shared Ownership, with prices for a one bedroom apartment start from £105,000 based on a 25% share of the full market value of £420,000.
