Work is underway at The Quarry, an exceptional collection of at least 600 new homes and a state-of-the-art primary school in Erith, Bexley.

Due to launch to the public in 2017, The Quarry is a truly impressive eco-development set to breathe new life into the disused Erith Quarry site which has lain neglected for the past 40 years.

With sustainability at its heart, this innovatively designed development will establish high quality, considered living, educational and community spaces which encourage nature and build on the ecology of the site. It will also become a commuter’s paradise, located just 30 minutes by train from central London and easily accessible for the planned Crossrail line from Abbey Wood and Woolwich stations.

The Quarry will provide at least 600 new homes, 80% of which will be contemporary houses aimed at families looking to upsize. All of the exquisite homes will offer generous living and outdoor spaces, and benefit from large floor-to-ceiling windows that maximise views and natural light.

The strikingly modern three form-entry primary school will bring 630 new school places to the town from 2018 and create a valuable community resource which can be used by local people.

The Quarry is a joint venture by L&Q and The Anderson Group, and represents a shared vision to create inspiring communities that offer residents a better way of living.

Andrew Jay, Group Managing Director at The Anderson Group, said: “Erith Quarry was integral to the local community for nearly two centuries but since quarrying ended in the 1960s it has lain neglected and become overgrown. We’re really excited to be working with L&Q to reimagine this vital piece of land at the heart of Erith into a sustainable neighbourhood which will deliver much needed new homes, green community spaces and a landmark primary school.

“Both The Anderson Group and L&Q are committed to creating places where people really want to live and which offer a standard of living which far surpasses the minimum. We specialise in transforming unwanted spaces into incredible new communities and I promise you, The Quarry is going to be incomparable.”

The street layout at The Quarry takes creative advantage of the site’s sloping topography, with cars tucked out of sight in undercroft parking and the majority of residents enjoying far-reaching views towards the River Thames and beyond. Surrounded by established woodland, The Quarry will also provide a wealth of green spaces, a network of cycle and walkways, and an ecology area the size of three football pitches.
