Vauxhall follows Renault on biofuels

Following a similar announcement by Renault last December, Vauxhall introduced B30 biodiesel compatible versions of its equivalent van and chassis-cab models at the NEC show. Its Vivaro (a rebadged variant of the Renault Trafic) and Movano (Renault Master) models, with powertrains adapted to accept fuel with a 30% bio content, are being trialled with what Vauxhall calls key fleet customers.

Depending on the source of the biomass feedstock used in the production of the biodiesel fuel, a net reduction in greenhouse gas (ie CO2) emissions of up to 20% is claimed for the technology, which has been applied to the 2 litre Renault diesel in the Vivaro and the 2.5 litre unit in the Movano.
