Work is underway at a development in Guildford which will provide 56 new homes and investment worth over £500,000 in the local community.

The first homes are now being built at Trinity Quarter, a development of one and two-bedroom apartments which will replace a former warehouse building on land at Wey Corner, off Walnut Tree Close.

Planning permission for development of the site was granted by Guildford Borough Council in November 2016, and work to demolish the former warehouse building began shortly after.

As part of the planning agreement for the site, Bellway will make a number of contributions to enhance the local community. £220,000 will go towards the improvement and maintenance of green spaces, £160,000 will be invested in education and £59,000 will be spent on road improvements in the area.

A further £62,800 will be used to create a new footpath across the River Wey, which will link Walnut Tree Close to the centre of the town.

Regional Director for Bellway’s South London division, Nathan Stevenson, said the new development had been designed to offer local people the chance to take their first steps on the property ladder.

He said: “Construction has just begun at Trinity Quarter and it’s exciting to see the development start to take shape.

“There is undoubtedly a huge demand for homes in Guildford and our planning teams have committed a great amount of research into the needs of the area, to ensure that we are providing suitable homes for local people.

“The homes we are building here will be ideal for young professionals and those looking to purchase their first home. Many of the homes here will also feature some fantastic views along the river, which makes Trinity Quarter extra special.

“Ever since we were granted planning permission for this development, we’ve been inundated with enquiries at our regional office, and there is a growing waiting list for information ahead of the launch of the homes here. We’re expecting this to be a popular development, and we’re looking forward to welcoming people to the development to show

them what we have to offer.”

The first homes at Trinity Quarter are expected to be released for sale later this year.
