Citroen van winner finds Britain’s Best Brekkie!

7th April 2009 Print
Citroen Citroen and The Sun’s national campaign to find Britain’s Best Brekkie has reached a thrilling conclusion! From the entries supplied by Britain’s army of van drivers, the judges decided that Britain’s Best Brekkie is served at the Ramsgate Café and Pie and Mash Shop, 332 Margate Road, Ramsgate Kent.

As a result of his Best Brekkie nomination, Danny Park (46) a self-employed, Ramsgate-based plasterer, has won a brand new Citroen Berlingo van. In addition, the Ramsgate Café proprietors Sarah Jeves and Kevin Davies have also won £1,000 and a commemorative plaque to recognise their success in providing Britain’s Best Brekkie.

At the presentation - with a Sun promotional girl - for the winners at the Ramsgate Café Robert Handyside, commercial vehicle operations manager, commented, “Thousands of hard-working van drivers have entered the Britain’s Best Brekkie competition. We are pleased to announce a worthy winner in the Ramsgate Café and Pie and Mash Shop, whose proprietors Sarah and Kevin have shown flair and imagination as well as a commitment to serving high quality, locally sourced produce. Danny Park will be able to put his new Citroen Berlingo to good use in his work as a plasterer as he travels and works throughout the south-east.”

Berlingo van winner Danny Parks remarks, “I’m delighted to have won the new Citroen Berlingo van, which will be ideal for my business as I travel extensively doing outside rendering and internal plastering. I’m also pleased that my entry for the Ramsgate Café has been successful as I appreciate their well-priced, freshly-cooked food and have been a regular here since it opened a year ago.”

The Ramsgate Café is open seven days a week, from 7am to 4pm, serving around 200 breakfasts a day as well as lunch and dinner. Kevin Davies comments, “Our philosophy is to provide the best possible, fresh-cooked locally sourced meals for local working people.” Not only are the proprietors expanding the clean and modern Ramsgate Café itself, but have just opened a new traditional pie and mash shop at Market Street in nearby Margate.

He adds, “In recognition of the fantastic work by our six staff, we are treating them all to dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Claridges restaurant in London.”
