Elddis Motor Caravan scoops top Caravan Club prize Behind every great motorcaravan there has got to be a great base chassis, engine and gearbox - and that’s definitely the case with the Elddis Autoquest range, by The Explorer Group Ltd, which has just scooped its second award from the Caravan Club.

Following the triumph in 2007 of the Elddis Autoquest 115, built on the Peugeot Boxer 330 SWB chassis, the brand new Autoquest 120 has been judged the overall winner in the Caravan Club’s Motor Caravan Design and Drive Awards for 2008, beating 40 other competitors.

Judges said the Autoquest ‘has every essential in a small package, is quick, agile and easy to drive, is fantastic value for money and has a lovely compact two berth.’

The design judges considered electrics, comfort, kitchen/washrooms, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, technical aspects and stowage. Driving judges assessed vehicles’ road behaviour, acceleration, stability, manoeuvrability, noise and comfort.

The Explorer Group Ltd has equipped the Elddis Autoquest with literally everything Caravanners need to be self sufficient out on the open road, including a double bed, shower, fridge, cooker, hot water, toilet and a kitchen sink.

Driving the Elddis Autoquest is also very car-like, thanks to Peugeot’s economical 100bhp 2.2 litre diesel engine and standard power assisted steering, while ABS anti-lock brakes and driver’s airbag are standard safety features.

The 2-berth Elddis Autoquest 120 costs just £27,000 on the road, rising to £31,090 for the six berth model, based on Peugeot’s Boxer 333 Medium Wheelbase chassis.

“The Explorer group has had a long and fruitful relationship with Peugeot which is why we build around 1,200 motorcaravans each year on their chassis,” explained Rob Quine, Managing Director, The Explorer Group Ltd.

“Our customers like the combination of the practicality developed by our designers and the modern, easy to drive, economical to run features of the Peugeot Boxer,” he added.
