Could the brand of your car make a difference to how much it is worth in scrap?

22nd August 2019 Print

When it comes to scrapping your car, one thing that you are going to want to make sure that you do, is get the most that you can for your car. There are a variety of considerations that you might want to keep in mind when it comes to scrapping your car. However, one question that you might find yourself asking is whether or not some brands are worth more in scrap value than others? To check out the value of your car, use Car.co.uk for an instant quote in 2 minutes.

Are there any makes of car which are worth more money in scrap?

The simplest answer to this question is sometimes. However, you shouldn’t ever take this as a guarantee. In the most part, those cars that are more costly to buy and run when you are using them, are going to be worth more in scrap.

However, you also need to think about how old your car is. An older car is going to be worth less in scrap than a car that is newer and it doesn’t matter which scrap car dealer that you go to, the outcome will always be the same.

The main thing that you need to keep in mind when it comes to scrapping any brand of car, is that the weight is what is going to matter over most other things. The heavier that your car is, then the more it is going to be worth when it comes to scrap value. This is why you will sometimes find that cheaper models from makes such as Land Rover are actually worth more money in scrap then cars that are made  by Audi or Mercedes.

My car is expensive, should I remove the parts first?

A common question that many people ask is whether or not it is worthwhile removing any key car parts from their car before it comes to scrapping it. This is particularly true if the car is expensive or the parts are hard to find.

Of course, if you do know how to remove parts and you have the time to sell them on, then this could make your more money than scrapping the car as a whole. However, what you will then need to keep in mind that when you scrap the rest of your car, the value will be affected.

Not only could the amount that it reduces your car value be more than what you made, removing car parts from your vehicle is going to take you time and also take you effort too. Not exactly something that many of us have time for.

Whilst the brand of your car may matter in value, you will not be likely to know the true value your car before you actually scrap it and you never know, you might be pleasantly surprised.
