Applecross wins Housebuilder of the Year Applecross has taken the top title in the Scottish Home Awards, a national awards programme promoting excellence in the housebuilding industry. The luxury housebuilder won Savills Housebuilder of the Year 2008, an award not open to nomination with the winner agreed by an independent judging panel of experts from across the industry.

In what was a memorable night for the Edinburgh-based housebuilder, Applecross claimed two further awards; the Springfords Medium Housebuilder of the Year Award and the Sound + Vision Waterside Apartment of the Year Award for Waterside Green, a parkland development of contemporary apartments in Craiglockhart, Edinburgh.

Sponsored by the Dunfermline Building Society, the Scottish Home Awards, were hosted by celebrity property gurus Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan in front of a packed audience of 550 industry representatives at the EICC, Edinburgh.

Dan Macdonald, Scottish Home Awards judge and Chief Executive of Macdonald Estates said: “Applecross has built and maintained an excellent reputation within the industry. This reputation has been earned and developed over many years of business. Applecross has continually reviewed what it does and has sought new ways to do things better. What’s more, its approach to customer service is very impressive.

“Applecross has dominated a very discerning market for many years but have now embarked on an ambitious new chapter outside its Edinburgh heartland. Exciting joint ventures with high profile partners will mean that this company is definitely one to watch in the coming months and years.”

Craig Hall, Marketing Director, Applecross said: “We are delighted to have won three awards at the Scottish Home Awards. It is a tribute to the hardworking Applecross team who are passionate about building high quality homes and continually striving to achieve excellence in customer service. This is an exciting time for us as we expand into Glasgow for the first time and embark on new joint ventures including the launch of Freespace, a new product to meet the mid-market demand for a new type of cleverly crafted home.”

The influential expert judging panel of fifteen people included Malcolm Macleod, Director, NHBC Scotland, Bill Thomson of Kenmore Property Group and Allan Lundmark of Homes for Scotland. The panel was chaired by Margaret Curran MSP.
