Edinburgh students snap up top flats in city centre Edinburgh students were up early today to snap up the most desirable accommodation for the new academic year. Several dozen potential tenants lined up to view popular traditional flats offered by Edinburgh lettings specialists Cullen Property today before rushing to the company’s office to be the first to sign on the dotted line.

Operations Director Steve Coyle explains: “Some students barely look at the actual property. They ask us for the specifics and if the flat is the right size in the right area they make sure they are the first to sign the paperwork.

“We have had students work out the quickest way between a flat and our office and whether to cover the distance on a bicycle or have a taxi waiting outside. It really turns into a race for the most popular properties in areas like Marchmont, Newington and Bruntsfield.”

This year, viewings have been oversubscribed and Cullen Property anticipates that the majority of flats will be let before the end of the month.

The company has witnessed an ongoing rise in demand for high quality, well presented and conveniently located flats in the city centre due to a growing student population in the Capital.

Steve Coyle adds: “A well-maintained traditional flat could in Marchmont, Bruntsfield or Newington could be let many times over.”

Over 65% of all flats managed by Cullen Property are currently occupied by students. Since the company was founded in 1998, Cullen Property has specialised in sourcing properties with optimum rental potential in the student market.
