Great deals on stress-free moves

Great deals on stress-free moves House hunters in Glamorgan are being urged to consider part-exchanging their existing home to dodge the potential stress that comes with finding a buyer. A couple in Brackla, who were desperate for more space, opted to swap their house for a brand new home when house builder Redrow made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.

Garry Bell and Tina Purdue had planned to put their previous home on the market but said they would consider part-exchanging it if they were offered the right deal.

A representative from Redrow went to do an inspection of their property and asked permission to take along an investor they knew might be interested, who snapped up their old three-bedroom terrace house within 24 hours, leaving the delighted couple free to make a speedy move into their new larger home.

Garry, a 35-year-old retail supply chain manager, and his partner Tina, 39, started looking for a new property when they realised their terrace home wasn’t big enough for them, their two teenage daughters; Danielle, 16, and Charlotte, 14, and their pet dog.

He said: “We’ve got two teenage kids and they were forever demanding more space. We had always wanted a new home and when we were offered a really good offer to part-exchange our old house for a brand new one, we decided to go for it. We managed to get it all sorted really quickly.

“Our previous house only had three bedrooms and no garage but now we’ve got a three-storey house with four bedrooms, a garage and two living rooms. We’ve decided to give the girls their own living room upstairs so we can get a bit of peace and quiet.”

Garry and Tina opted for a beautiful Neale-design mid-terrace town-house with a detached single garage, en-suite bathroom, separate dining room, handy under stairs storage and a downstairs cloakroom.

DIY-phobic Garry decided to buy a new-build home because he didn’t want to keep up with the running repairs that go with owning an older home.

He said: “I’m rubbish at DIY. I can put new stuff together and add the odd lick of paint here and there but I’m no good at making improvements.

“The Neale home gave us so many more options for the kids. Having their own living area upstairs meant the downstairs living room was just for us to relax in. The size of it also meant there was no problem fitting in a wide-screen TV to watch the football on.

“Redrow have been brilliant throughout the whole process. They’ve helped us every step of the way and always kept us informed. Now we’ve got a really beautiful family home.”

The development’s fantastic location – having the perfect balance of accessibility to towns and cities, whilst remaining close by the beautiful Welsh coastline – is a big selling point and Redrow anticipates its popularity will keep rising

The village of Brackla has a choice of pubs and leisure facilities, whilst nearby Bridgend has a host of amenities available to its locals – from doctors and dentists, to family-friendly pubs and stylish wine bars – something that will suit everyone.

The village also has several excellent schools nearby – both English and/or Welsh speaking – and is only three miles from the fantastic McArthur Glen retail shopping outlet, the perfect place to stop off after the morning school-run.

Rachael Davies, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), says: “The part-exchange meant there was no threat of a chain collapsing and we were able to find an investor who wanted to buy Garry and Tina’s home really quickly.

“By opting to part-exchange, other customers can have the potential stress of having to find a buyer for their existing property taken away, leaving them free to concentrate on their move.

“The option is still available for a limited period on selected plots and we would welcome anyone looking for a beautiful new home to come to Coed Castell to see the development.

Coed Castell features a range of apartments and houses, currently priced from £136,995 for a two-bedroom apartment up to £218,950 for a four-bedroom detached. All of the properties are designed and constructed to the highest specification and standards.
