Citroen scoops GreenFleet LCV manufacturer award

2nd October 2009 Print
Citroen Citroen’s award winning streak continues - with its fourth LCV honour in just a few days. For the second year in succession, Citroen has been awarded the prestigious title of GreenFleet LCV Manufacturer of the Year. This important accolade was presented on the same day that the Berlingo was voted Van of the Year and Small Van of the Year at the Fleet Van awards. Just a few days earlier, the Berlingo Crew Van was named LCV of the Year by the Institute of Transport Management.

Martin Freedman, GreenFleet magazine publisher, commented, “In awarding Citroen the GreenFleet LCV Manufacturer of the Year award, we have recognised Citroen’s programme of continuous improvement in developing the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of its LCVs.”

Robert Handyside, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, said, “Citroen is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its LCV range. So we are delighted to have won the GreenFleet LCV Manufacturer of the Year award for the second year in a row. This award recognises the Company’s massive investment in advanced technology and the resulting improvement in fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.”

The GreenFleet LCV Manufacturer of the Year award recognises Citroen’s on-going programme to improve the environmental credentials of its LCV range and to enable its customers to reduce their carbon footprint. Citroen’s HDi diesel engines are widely recognised as being leaders in the delivery of fuel efficient, low emission performance. In addition, Citroen fits Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation (with traffic congestion avoidance) to virtually every new Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel van. Customers also have the option of adding Fleet Director fleet management functionality as an option. This advanced telematics package means fleet operators are able to manage vehicles remotely and more efficiently, delivering major fuel, emissions and other vehicle running cost savings - together with providing improved driver safety and greater operational effectiveness.

Citroen has also expanded the availability of clean and efficient - London Congestion Charge-exempt - Dual Fuel (petrol/LPG) vans. This range now includes Nemo, Berlingo and Dispatch vans as part of Citroen’s Ready to Run programme.

Citroen also comes out ahead of the competition in the recently published Department for Transport/SMMT Van CO2 Database. As one of the first manufacturers in the UK to provide its customers with LCV CO2 figures, and one of the most pro-active in reducing the carbon footprint of its vehicles, this database shows that Citroen has exceptional fuel economy and low CO2 figures across its LCV range.
