Renault Kangoo Green Van of the Year

1st October 2009 Print
Renault Kangoo Renault is celebrating its third fleet title van award of the year after New Kangoo Van won ‘Green Van of the Year – Conventional Fuels ’ at the Fleet Van Awards 2009.

Receiving the accolade at today’s award lunch in London, Renault UK’s Andy Cockeram, Field Operations Manager, commented, “We’re delighted with the Kangoo’s latest award win, particularly as it recognises the expansion of our Renault eco2 programme to take in the van range. With fuel pricing and corporate environmental policy becoming ever more critical, the New Kangoo Van range puts forward a very strong case in today’s modern fleets.”

On behalf of the expert judging panel, Stephen Briers, Fleet Van’s Editor-in-chief, said, “The Kangoo was a clear winner – CO2 per tonne, gross vehicle weight and the manufacturer’s well thought-out approach to reducing the environmental impact, which includes manufacturing and recycling, make Renault a winner.”

Unlike most rivals, instead of relying solely on a few engineering tweaks to achieve marginal fuel economy gains, Renault takes a holistic approach to limiting the environmental impact of its vehicles through the eco2 programme.

Renault eco2 vehicles, like the New Kangoo Van dCi 85, must emit less than 140g/km of CO2, be manufactured in a plant that has been certified ISO 14001, and be 95% recoverable at the end of their lifecycle and ensure 5% of the plastics used are from recycled sources. Added to this, in dCi 85 form, the Kangoo Van offers an impressive 54.3 mpg on the combined cycle. From this month, this same engine will distance itself even further from rivals in the three-metre cubed compact van sector with an even healthier, class-leading 57.6 mpg and 130 grams per kilometre of CO2 emissions.
