Thailand tipped for best value holidays in 2010

Long-haul, tailor-made tour operator and retailer, Travelmood has identified Thailand as the destination in its collection that is offering the best value deals on 2010 holidays.

The company is also advising that Australasia will be excellent value to fly to and that early bookers will bag the biggest bargains.

“In 2009 we saw a lot of holiday-makers booking at the last minute – six to eight weeks before travel, in many cases - largely due to the economic climate. In response to that, the hotels and airlines in many of the destinations we programme are offering superb deals for customers who book early,“ says Rad Sofronijevic, managing director of Travelmood.

“Thailand is definitely more affordable for 2010 than it was this year because of the great, value-added deals around. Airlines to Australia and New Zealand are also offering very competitive prices on 2010 flights, making the countries very affordable for Britons visiting next year.”

Travelmood, which offers holidays to the Far East, Indian Ocean, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada, has launched an “extrAValue” brochure dedicated to holidays in 2010 that have added value offers associated with them. The deals range from free room upgrades, nights, meals and spa treatments to early booking bonuses and Thailand has the widest variety and the offers with the most significant savings.

Travelmood has a 14-night holiday to the four-star La Flora, Khao Lak, Thailand from £999 per person in a two-weeks-for-the-price-of-one offer that represents a saving of £350. The deal includes bed and breakfast accommodation and return, economy class flights with Eva Air from London Heathrow. To boost the extrAValue further still, the resort is also offering a complimentary 60-minute Thai massage, a welcome drink, flowers and a fruit platter on arrival in the room, free use of the fitness room and tennis court, a ten percent discount on food and a 15 percent discount on spa treatments. The offer applies to departures in May 2010 but the savings continue on departures throughout the summer, from April – October 2010. In addition, holiday-makers who book by 28 February 2010 will receive a further 10 percent discount on the accommodation element of the holiday.

The brochure also features a 14-night trip to Koh Samui, Thailand, staying at the four-star Kandaburi resort, from £1,059 per person in a two-weeks-for-the-price-of-one offer that represents a saving of £557. The deal includes bed and breakfast accommodation and return, economy class flights with Eva Air from London Heathrow. The resort is also offering two complimentary aromatherapy spa treatments, two complimentary dinners for two (excluding beverages), 20 percent off spa treatments and 10 percent off food and beverages (excluding wine). The offer applies to departures in May and June 2010 but again, the savings continue on departures throughout the summer, from April – October 2010. In addition, holiday-makers who book by 28 February 2010 will receive a free upgrade to half-board accommodation.

In Australasia, Travelmood has some excellent value land-only deals including a 21-day campervan holiday in New Zealand from £161 per person in a three-weeks-for-the-price-of-two offer, representing a saving of £330 per person. The deal is valid for departures between 20 April and 14 September 2010. There is also an eight-day Palm Cove Tour for just £442 per person, representing a saving of £101 per person for customers booking and travelling before 31 March 2010. The price includes seven nights’ accommodation at the Paradise on the Beach Resort, a stone’s throw from Palm Cove Beach in North Queensland, Australia, a trip on the Quicksilver Outer Barrier Reef, where a unique platform provides the base for a day of underwater discovery, a Wavedancer Low Isles tour, where the picturesque lagoon and secluded island await and finally, a tour of the local markets and aboriginal culture in Kuranda.

Travelmood’s extrAValue brochure also includes value-added offers for dream destinations such as South Africa, where a three-night safari holiday at Governors’ Camp with flights is available from £1,699 including a 33 percent discount on a balloon safari; Dubai, where five nights with flights is available from £799 including free half-board for early bookers; Sri Lanka where holiday-makers can receive seven free nights, paying just £799 for 14-nights and flights; Maldives, which is available from £1,099 for seven nights with flights and including a free upgrade to all-inclusive; and Las Vegas, where three nights including flights and discount vouchers to the value of US$3,000 on shopping, dining and entertainment, can be snapped up for £649.

In addition to the deals available in the extrAValue brochure, Travelmood has a dedicated “offers” section on the new-look website (travelmood.com/offers/latest) which features, for example, a holiday to Phuket, Thailand from £599 for 14 nights, departing on 13 May 2010 and a holiday to Sydney and Cairns, Australia from £899 for 10 nights, departing on 17 April 2010.
