Barratt is celebrating the arrival of 2010 with the release of some stunning new houses at its Purbeck Gate development in Wool, Dorset.

“We can offer a selection of two and three-bedroom homes,” reports Mark Docherty, Barratt sales director. “Our two-bedroom houses, in the Richmore and Washbourne styles, offer the ideal homes for a single person, couple or small family and prices start from £181,995.

“Some of our three-bedroom houses are available through the government’s HomeBuy Direct scheme, which allows eligible buyers to purchase properties at reduced prices.

“For example, our three-bedroom Maidstone house has an asking price of £239,000, but it is available for just £167,300 with HomeBuy,” he continued. “The three-bedroom Sandford, priced at £260,000, can be bought for £182,000 through the scheme.”

Buyers who are accepted for the government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme only have to find 70 per cent of the purchase price on a new home. The other 30 per cent is funded by a joint equity loan from Barratt and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The scheme is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting.

Households eligible will have an income of no more than £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market.  There is no interest to pay on the equity stake for the first five years, although a small fee will be charged from year six onwards.

Buyers can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds.

Purbeck Gate is located in the tranquil village of Wool on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. The village lies approximately six miles from the Saxon town of Wareham and 12 miles from the town of Dorchester. The seaside town of Weymouth, 14 miles away, will host sailing events for the 2012 Olympics.
