Volkswagen Golf named BusinessCar of the Year 2010

The Volkswagen Golf has received the highest honour at this year’s BusinessCar Awards claiming the title of BusinessCar of the Year 2010.

The Golf, renowned for its high levels of standard equipment and safety features, impressed the readers of BusinessCar through its mix of versatility, value for money, quality and efficiency.

‘The Volkswagen Golf has always been a favourite among business car operators thanks to a combination of brand prestige and appeal, great running costs and a good drive, and the new Golf has built handsomely on those foundations,’ said BusinessCar Editor Paul Barker.  ‘It’s no surprise that such a desirable and popular product was voted Business Car of the Year by the people whose businesses depend on making the right choices – our readers.’

Since its launch in 2008, the Golf has won a number of prestigious accolades including World Car of the Year at the New York Auto Show.  This latest sixth generation of Europe’s best-selling car was also named Towcar of the Year, ACFO Car of the Year, Best Compact Family Car by Auto Express and, most recently, Small Family Car by What Car? magazine for the second consecutive year. 

Pricing for the Golf starts at £14,850 (RRP on the road) with standard equipment including air conditioning, a CD stereo system and body-coloured exterior trim.  The Golf also features class-leading levels of safety with ABS, ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and seven airbags, including for the first time a knee airbag, all standard.
