F&C Managed Portfolio Trust outstrips wider trust sector

Half-yearly financial results posted by F&C Managed Portfolio Trust on Monday saw the investment trust of investment trusts beat the average return from the trust sector, with a return of 17.9% on the Income Shares and 15.7% on the Growth Shares.

This compared with 14.8% from the FTSE Equity Investment Instruments Index, which measures investment trust returns. The FTSE All-Share return over the six months to 31 December was 19.7%. F&C Managed Portfolio Trust, managed by Peter Hewitt at F&C Investments in Edinburgh, has an innovative structure, with two portfolios targeting income and growth respectively.
