New role for TV soap star in Liverpool

Wendy Roberts has swapped her TV soap star life for a sales role with North West house builder Miller Homes.

Wendy is the Sales Adviser at Miller Homes’ Bridgewater Park Development in Netherley and has had a string of roles in popular soaps including Brookside, Coronation Street and the Mallens series. Wendy’s parents were both in the theatrical world and now her two daughters, Hannah 16 and Nikki 14, are following in the family tradition with roles in Waterloo Road.

Brookside has always been a favourite with Wendy as her mother, Gladys Ambrose, played the popular Corkhills’ grandma character, ‘Julia Brogan’, for over 15 years. Wendy was cast in three roles during its reign and has very fond memories of the cult soap opera.

Wendy says: “I have had a fantastic career in TV but I really love the building industry. As an actor you spend lots of time with different people and over the years I’ve played some fantastic characters and worked with some amazing people. Now it’s all about customer service and I still get to meet lots of lovely people, but I don’t have to learn any lines!”

Wendy’s acting career started at just age 14 when she landed a role in the film Lonesome Road, while studying at the Elliot Clarke Theatre School. Between acting roles, Wendy held a variety of sales jobs and enhanced her experience behind the camera by training as a camera operator, sound recordist and editor. Now, working in for Miller Homes in Liverpool, Wendy has a whole new outlook on life.

Wendy continues: “There is something really special meeting new people and helping them to buy a brand new home. It has been a tough year but thankfully we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
