Redrow Homes has acquired a site of 9.5 acres in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, and is proposing to build a selection of family homes from its New Heritage Collection.

A planning application has been approved for the first phase of 43 three and four-bedroom homes, all with integral garages; and further plans are being drawn up for the balance of the site to provide apartments, terraced and semi-detached houses.

The site off Craigneuk Street, Craigneuk, Motherwell is situated close to the newly completed Motherwell College and will have a finished value of around £14 million.

Redrow’s New Heritage Collection features family homes influenced externally by the Arts & Crafts movement, giving a very traditional appearance. Inside they are bright, modern, designed with 21st century living in mind and incorporate a high level of specification as standard.

The land acquired by Redrow is located at the southern entrance to Ravenscraig, one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe. This brownfield site was previously part of the Etna Iron and Steelworks, before becoming derelict, and the area is now being rejuvenated with homes, businesses, parkland, the new Motherwell College campus, the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility and two new schools.

Sandy McBride, managing director for Redrow Homes (Scotland), said: “Our New Heritage Collection is perfect for this location, offering a good choice of high quality, traditional family homes adding a new dimension and customer choice which contributes well to the overall redevelopment of this area of Motherwell, including the neighbouring Ravenscraig scheme.

“Our housing designs are based on customer research and feedback which revealed that most people want to live in a traditional looking two-storey home – perhaps evocative of the one they grew up in – with back and front gardens and a garage. They also want high specification interiors, statement making kitchens and bathrooms and space, which we have incorporated into our housing range.”

Based in Larbert, near Falkirk, Redrow Homes (Scotland) builds across the Central belt and all sites can be found on the Redrow web site: redrow.co.uk
