It’s one of Britain’s leading independent retailers of two-wheeled dream machines but when George White Superbikes requires four-wheeled transport it puts its faith in Mercedes-Benz.

The fast-growing company has just taken delivery of three Long-bodied Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 313CDI vans, which it is now using to deliver motorcycles to the homes of customers nationwide.

George White Superbikes retails all of the major motorcycle brands. The company has a head office, mega outlet and workshop in Swindon, and bought its new vans from the local branch of dealer Rygor Commercials.

The retailer runs nine more vans, all of which also wear three-pointed stars, from its network of mega outlets and superstores in London’s East End, Slough, Bodmin, Paignton, Plymouth and St Austell. These vehicles are used primarily to make inter-group movements of bikes.

Established more than 50 years ago, George White is renowned for offering eye-catching deals on the finest range of motorcycles and associated products, backed by an exceptional after sales service.

The company was purchased from the founder who gave it his name by current Managing Director Steve Gannicott in 2007 – it was at this point that the decision was made to switch to an all-Mercedes-Benz van fleet.

“We’d operated all sorts of vans previously but wanted to go with a single manufacturer to make life so much easier from a servicing point of view,” recalled General Manager Pete Cleverly. “I already knew some of the guys at Rygor and the Sprinter was clearly a real thoroughbred, so it was the obvious choice.

“We’ve never looked back. Our Sprinters have proved exceptionally reliable and Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the field in terms of safety. The dealer’s back-up is also first class, with servicing carried out at times convenient to us, so the vans are available for work when we need them. They’re nice people at Rygor too, and very easy to deal with.”

George White’s latest vans have hit the ground running, with each covering up to 3,000 miles a week. “We’ve specified these new Sprinters with a host of optional extras including cruise control and bluetooth, hands-free telephones operated via the multi-function steering wheels,” added Pete Cleverly. “Our drivers are really impressed with them.”
