Lincolnshire-based Browns Chilled Distribution has been winning compliments from business associates and others after applying a striking new livery to its latest batch of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.

The company is currently celebrating its 25th year in business – and what better way to mark your silver anniversary than by investing in a dozen new vans bearing silver three-pointed stars.

All are Medium-length Sprinter 313CDI models with low-emission, 129hp Euro 5 engines mated to fully automatic transmissions. They are finished in bold Sulphur Yellow, with Browns’ new coolfoodmovers.com website address featuring prominently alongside its corporate logo.

The vans were supplied by Boston dealer H&L Garages, while their bodies were insulated and fridges fitted by Somers Refrigeration, of Norwich.

Browns Chilled Distribution operates from a 29-acre site with extensive chilled storage facilities and a cold store for frozen items, at Bicker, on the outskirts of Boston. It distributes food ingredients and finished goods, fruit and vegetables, to supermarkets and wholesalers nationwide.

Browns specialises in urgent deliveries of food samples to manufacturers, processors, photographic studios, laboratories and supermarket head offices. It is a task for which its Mercedes-Benz vans are ideally suited, due to the high mileages involved.

The company operates 20 Sprinters, which have previously been finished in plain white; so, too, have its trucks, among them a number of 7.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Ategos, but these are now being given a bold yellow stripe.

“We decided a little while back to raise the profile of our business,” said Managing Director Simon Brown, “and the new vehicle liveries are a key element of this new strategy. The feedback has been very positive – a lot of people have spotted our latest vans and the consensus seems to be that they look very refreshing.”

Browns has not looked back since switching to Mercedes-Benz vans a decade ago. “Our Sprinters have always been very reliable and durable,” continued Mr Brown. “This is crucial, given the time-sensitive and unrelenting nature of the work, which entails them typically covering 100,000 miles a year.

“They are also very popular with our drivers, especially the latest ones which have automatic transmissions. We’re keen to do all we can to reduce our carbon footprint and are hoping that as well as making the drivers lives easier, these auto ’boxes will also contribute to improved fuel returns.

“And finally,” he adds, “the fact that we never seem to have any problems with our Sprinters must also say something also about the team at H&L Garages, whose sales and after service is always first class.”
