Rossetts offers van and minibus MoTs while you sleep

Local van and passenger transport operators can now get their vehicles MoT tested through the night following the launch of a new service by Aldershot Mercedes-Benz dealer Rossetts Commercials.

The company has opened a dedicated MoT lane at its dealership on the town’s Eastern Road industrial estate.

The move means that customers no longer have to take their vehicles off the road to get them tested during the day, when they could be out earning.

Operators will also save money if they relied previously on Rossetts to prepare their vehicles and then take them to a third-party test centre in the area. This is because the dealer no longer has to charge an accompaniment fee to reflect the time that its technician is away from the depot, and no fuel is used in travelling to and from the test centre.

Rossetts has invested some £20,000 on the MoT lane, training three of its technicians (one for each shift) to carry out tests, and installing new equipment, including a special vehicle lift, a brake tester, headlight beam setter and exhaust gas analyser.

The dealership is open round-the-clock from 7.30am Mondays until 1.30pm Saturdays. It offers MoTs on vehicles of all marques in the Class 4 (cars, vans and small minibuses up to 3.0 tonnes gross weight), Class 5 (buses with up to 15 passenger seats, as well as ambulances), and 7 (vans up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight) categories.

“The opportunity to get their vehicles tested through the night is already proving very popular with operators. But even those who still prefer to get their MoTs done during the day are benefiting from cost savings and, of course, they also get their vehicles back much more quickly than was previously the case.”
