THOR Racing belt delete options for 1UZ-FE engines

Coventry based THOR Racing has launched a superb, cost-effective belt delete kit for owners of Lexus V8 engined cars, With many enthusiasts now fitting the torquey 1UZ-FE lump into many other types of car as a modern day ‘Rover V8’ equivalent, the new THOR kit allows the selective deletion of extraneous pulleys and components to reduce belt friction and increase horsepower, whilst reducing weight.

The basic kit contains two smart replacement covers which are available on an exchange basis for £49.99 + VAT and carriage. These provide an aesthetically pleasing replacement for the factory idle tensioner and second idler, also allowing the A/C unit and PAS pump to be removed for competition and track applications. Alternatively the PAS unit can be left if required.

In either case, tuners can then opt for the anodised belt tensioner and idler replacement at just £159.99 + VAT. This includes a much shorter belt to hugely reduce the unnecessary routing of the factory serpentine belt.

The upshot of all of these components – and a couple of hours worth of spanner twirling – will be a horsepower improvement of between 5-10 bhp thanks to improved efficiency and a weight saving of some 14 kilos.
