Wildlife Worldwide roars into 2011

2nd February 2011 Print

Independent wildlife specialist Wildlife Worldwide today launches its 2011/12 programme which reveals the return of Zimbabwe and many new camps, resulting in lower prices for many trips.

Comments Chris Breen, Founder of Wildlife Worldwide: “We are being very careful about what we are offering in Zimbabwe because it is essential that whatever we are featuring is benefitting the local economy, local communities and helping to provide employment at a grass-roots level. At the moment Zimbabwe feels like a brand new safari destination with prices to match – but it won’t feel like that for long. Now is a great time to go.”

Here is just a selection of highlights from the new brochure:

New – Zimbabwe’s Wildlife Highlights – from £2995
An authentic African safari with some nights spent under canvas in private camping areas with the support of a professional safari team. Includes some of Zimbabwe’s best parks including Hwange and Matapos plus a Zambezi cruise and the mighty Victoria Falls.

New - Shoebills, Lechwe & Luangwa – from £4995 (Connoisseur trip)
This is a truly pioneering expedition to discover the remote wilderness of the lesser-visited North Luangwa, plus Kasanka and Bangweulu in Zambia. Unusual wildlife likely to be spotted includes black lechwe, sitatunga and shoebill plus Africa’s famous elephants, lion and leopard.

New - Kenyan Wilderness Safari – from £4050 (Connoisseur trip)
A rare chance to discover Kenya’s hidden wild side, walking from camp to camp and drifting to sleep under the stars, accompanied by the sounds of nightjars and Samburu warriors in the distance. This trip includes a camel-supported safari, escorted by Samburu and Masai guides.

New - The Best of South Tanzania – from £3115 (Connoisseur trip)
Discover the wild and rugged south of Tanzania in the Selous, a huge reserve with raging rivers and inhabited by large numbers of beasts including lion, leopard and cheetah. This trip also provides a chance to enjoy river activities in Ruaha, one of Tanzania’s least-visited parks.

Big Cat Volunteering (Namibia) – from £1995 pp
Enjoy two weeks based at a big cat rehabilitation centre north of Windhoek. Mornings will be spent working with the team to help restore an old cattle station back into a game reserve and afternoons will be spent data gathering by tracking and monitoring leopards and cheetahs. Volunteers will also get to help to feed the 100 plus cats in the programme. This is a truly rewarding and memorable experience.

Safari and Beach in Mozambique – from £3725 pp
Wildlife Worldwide has included a choice of wonderful lodges with views over the ocean, to provide the chance to combine nights on safari with sea activities or simply chilling on white sandy beaches. One suggested itinerary is the eight-night Safari & Beach, combining four nights at Explorers’ Camp in Gorongosa National Park with four nights at the Nuarro Lodge on the Baixo do Pinda Peninsula.

New - Winter Wildlife (Romania) – from £1060 pp
Wildlife enthusiasts looking for a flora and fauna fix closer to home can try the new Winter Wildlife trip to Romania which provides a chance to hike through the forests of the Carpathian Mountains tracking wolf, deer and chamoix, aided by cross-country skis to cover more ground.
