Park Plaza brings Bali to Britain

Located in the heart of London at the foot of Westminster Bridge, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London has brought a taste of Bali to Britain with the opening of its Mandara Spa.

Already one of the world's leading global spa brands, Mandara Spa teamed with the prominent new hotel to bring its authentic Balinese spa experience to the UK for the very first time.

From a menu of therapies incorporating ingredients native to the Indonesian Islands to its soothing design with contemporary Balinese décor, Mandara Spa will serve as an exotic escape in the heart of the city.

With a bespoke face, body and grooming treatment menu, the spa will cater for both time rich and express clientele. And, to ensure that all aspects of the Mandara Spa experience are authentic to the Balinese way, all Mandara therapies are taught to therapists directly by Balinese trainers.

In addition to Mandara Spa body treatments such as its signature Balinese Massage, Asian Head Massage and Mandara Harmony Package featuring an Aroma Reflex Foot Ritual, Body Wash, Traditional Body Scrub and Balinese Massage, the spa also will offer signature Elemis facials and detox therapies as well as manicures, pedicures and waxing courtesy of Bliss.

Guests will be offered complimentary fruit juices and healthy snacks after each session. Or, following a treatment, they may choose from a selection of additional services such as indulging in a glass of champagne and seasonal berries to enjoying a 20-minute power nap for the ultimate relaxation experience.

The new spa's design fuses the contemporary lines of Park Plaza Westminster Bridge with elements reflecting the healing aspects of Bali to create a unique sensory experience. Spacious treatment rooms will include one double suite for couples' treatments, three single treatment rooms complete with showers and an additional five generously-sized single treatment rooms.

Inspiration for the design of Mandara Spa was drawn from around the world with a focus on contemporary Asian influences. A unique bamboo feature has been created with Petung bamboo that cleverly integrates coloured, hand-blown glass embedded with Mandara Spa ingredients such as Ylang Ylang, Coffee and Lavender. Delicate ancient Sanskrit writing scrolls along the curved ceilings displaying the names of Balinese flowers, whilst the spa is mood lit with 'tear drops' and 'cubes' designed with new environmentally friendly, plug-less LED technology, charged through magnetic induction. Finally, no spa is complete without an ever-flowing black stone fountain of water, essential for the absorption of negative energy. The overall effect is an exciting modern twist in bringing exquisite elements of Bali to Britain.

The Spa Boutique will offer a range of products and accessories from Mandara Spa's very own line as well as luxury British spa and skincare brand Elemis and the best sellers from the Bliss range, allowing guests to continue the spa experience at home.

Founded in 1995 and now a subsidiary of Steiner Leisure Ltd., Mandara Spa brings its authentic Bali spa experience to 20 countries around the globe. In 2010, Mandara Spa expanded into Russia and now to London, answering to a demand for authentic Balinese therapies worldwide.

Andrew Swindells, General Manager of Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, said: "We are delighted to bring this spectacular new spa to the UK. Mandara's contemporary style combined with its warm, Balinese-inspired service is complementary to the quality, value and friendly service we deliver in all of our Park Plaza Hotels."

Jeff Matthews, President of Mandara Spa Worldwide, said: "We have wanted to break into the UK market for a long time now, but we had to ensure that we partnered with the right hotel. The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge is an award-winning hotel in the very most central and recognisable point of London. It's the perfect fit for Mandara Spa and our vision of offering an exotic escape in the heart of the city."

Located on the vibrant South Bank opposite Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London is only steps from the city's most iconic attractions including the London Eye, London Aquarium and Royal Festival Hall. Spacious guest rooms, which include 54 suites and penthouses, provide a host of boutique touches alongside thoughtful amenities. Distinctive dining options include Brasserie Joël created by renowned Chef Joël Antunes, Ichi Sushi and Sashimi Bar, espressamente illy coffee bar and for cocktails, the stylish Primo Bar. In addition to its 1,200 square-metre, pillar-free Westminster Ballroom and 31 additional meeting rooms, the hotel features two executive lounges, Wi-Fi throughout and a fitness centre complete with 15-metre swimming pool.
