Contact Attachments’ high mileage Citroen Relay Efficiency

Specialist fork lift truck attachment manufacturer, Contact Attachments Ltd, has just taken delivery of a third Citroen Relay 35 HDi 160 Ready to Run Ingimex dropside truck.  In service with the Newtown, Powys-based company, the new Relay joins two other identical Citroen dropsides in an intensive, high mileage, UK-wide delivery operation, which could soon be expanded to include Europe.

During its up to four year service life with Contact Attachments, the new dropside will cover in excess of 200,000 miles.  Purchased from Citroen dealer Budgen Motors, Telford, the Relay, like its two fleet mates, will be maintained in-house by Contact Attachments.  The company uses genuine Citroen parts and approved lubricants, and services its vehicles overnight.

Graham Wright, the company’s accountant, explains: “We are very impressed with the Citroen Relay.  Our experience has shown that they are cheap to insure, easy to maintain and remain trouble free with excess of 200,000 miles on the clock.  Despite high speed, full load operation they are also very economical, returning up to 29mpg, which is near enough a 100% fuel economy improvement over our previous vehicles.”

Contact Attachments is a long established manufacturer of specialist fork lift truck equipment with growing export markets in Europe, China and the USA.  To improve fork lift truck safety and boost load handling efficiency the company makes, amongst other attachments, snow ploughs, tipping skips, forks, load back rests, drum clamp bands, pallet rotators and wheelie bin handlers.  These are supplied and delivered to customers throughout the UK and the company is now considering using its new Relay with a drawbar trailer to deliver to its European customers.
