Dog-friendly breaks in the Welsh countryside

6th May 2011 Print

The luxurious Falcondale Hotel is an ideal destination for dog owners, as a warm welcome is extended to both two-legged and four-legged guests.

The Italianate mansion, with its 14-acres of gorgeous grounds, is the perfect location for a dog-friendly escape.

What's more,  Cardigan Bay's spectacularly beautiful beaches and the wild uplands of the Cambrian mountains are on The Falcondale's doorstep - ideal for long walkies away from the crowds.

The Falcondale has been in the hands of Chris and Lisa Hutton since 2000, and they have created a warm and homely ambience in the spectacular former gentleman's residence.

"We have dogs ourselves, and we know how hard it can be to find a stylish hotel, with great food, that also welcomes dogs," says Chris Hutton.

"We have created here at The Falcondale, what we hope to find for ourselves when we go away for a break."

On arrival, human guests can enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the conservatory, while, with their owners' permission,  their canine  companions can tuck into home-made organic dog biscuits, crafted to be highly nutritious and very tasty.

"It's not enough for dogs to be tolerated, they have to be treated as another guest," explains Chris. "And our location is ideal for people with dogs, as the walking around here is so fantastic. If you don't feel like, you don't even need to get in your car."

Quality and comfort is The Falcondale's mission, and after a happy day exploring the surrounding countryside, Mike Green, the dedicated head chef, will lovingly prepare a magnificent evening meal, served in the wood-panelled dining room.

"Nothing here is left to chance, and we go out of our way to ensure that our guests, both two-legged and four-legged, want for nothing," concludes Chris.
