Preferred Hotel Group supports relief efforts in Japan
In a worldwide effort to assist with the ongoing relief efforts in Japan for those affected by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, Preferred Hotel Group will hold a benefit sale beginning June 6, 2011, at noon ET on Vacationist.com, a private sale site presented by Travel + Leisure and Luxury Link.
From Italy to India, China to France, and all across North America, 190 Preferred Hotel Group members worldwide have banded together to donate over 770 room nights for the upcoming “Check-In for Japan” benefit sale. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale will go to American Red Cross disaster relief efforts for those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.
In cooperation with Vacationist™, Preferred Hotel Group will feature 21 different member hotels every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through June 24, 2011. Donated rooms will be offered at significantly reduced rates, from £30 per night. The “Check-In for Japan” offers will be valid for 48 hours, or until the rooms have sold out. Stays must be completed by December 31, 2011.
“Relief efforts and work to repair the affected regions is far from complete,” said Lindsey Ueberroth, president, Preferred Hotel Group. “As a global hotel brand representing independent properties, it is incumbent upon us to reach out to our community of hotels and rally their support. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan hit especially close to home for Preferred Hotel Group, as we have 10 member hotels and countless more friends and associates in Japan. The desire and energy for our hotels around the world to donate and respond proactively to help their fellow partners has been tremendous.”
In addition to creating “Check-In for Japan,” a significant donation has been made to the American Red Cross through the John and Gail Ueberroth Family Foundation via Preferred Hotel Group’s corporate social responsibility program, GIFTTS (Great Initiatives For Today's [Tomorrow's] Society), providing an additional platform for company associates to donate.
