Affordable family adventures in the Cairngorms

Summer holidays with a young family can be a nightmare when trying to find accommodation that is not too expensive, or even somewhere that will welcome babies and toddlers.

Fraoch Lodge in Boat of Garten village (in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park), have decided to actively encourage young families to stay with them. They offer flexible meal arrangements, free babysitting services, and variety of family friendly activities in the beautiful Scottish highlands.

Fraoch Lodge crosses the boundaries between a B&B and a hostel. Not only do they offer comfortable twin or family rooms with hand basins, but are also able to offer a separate kitchen for the use of our guests to prepare babies bottles or meals as required. If looking to relax further and not worry about meal times (after all, you have to do this every day at home) they also have the solution. They offer free babysitting services should you wish to eat out at the local hotel or restaurant 5 minutes walk from the Lodge, and/or flexible meal arrangements to suit the family looking for an ‘eating out’ experience without worrying about the kids upstairs.

If you are looking to do something active, there are plenty of choices from kayaking to hill walking; from ball pits to swimming. All the family can participate at a level to suit. There are even walks from the back gate of the Lodge into the woods, up fairy hill or all the way into Aviemore (6 miles). For nature experiences, Loch Garten is virtually on the doorstep for Osprey watching, or head to the Speyside Wildlife Badger hide with the older kids.

Price: £60 per room, per night. Sleeps 2 adults, 2 children.
Min stay: 2 nights
Max stay: as long as you like
